Young People's Voice to CouncilWakefield Regional Council works closely with the community to provide a range of services and programs for the youth within the Council region. A significant part of this work comes through the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC): a team of youths working to improve life in the region for their peers. Past events YAC has been involved with include short courses, blue light discos, paintballing, health initiatives, organisation partnerships, environmental works and youth week events. YAC is the young people's voice to Council; they advise on youth issues, and on how Council decisions may impact on the younger demographic. YAC membership is open to any young person between the ages of 12 and 25 who wants to make a difference for young people in the area; and who lives, works, plays or attends school in the Wakefield region. You can find out more on Facebook. For information about engaging with the group or future events & projects, contact Holly Cowan on (08) 8862 0800 or email email@example.com.
Support for Young PeopleThe Regional Youth Bus is packed with the latest technologies including gaming, music and WIFI, all in a supervised safe environment to hang out with friends. At the same time visitors can chat with staff and access a host of information and support on such things as career planning, health and wellbeing. The Bus follows a routine visiting partner council regions of Barossa, Light, Mallala, Goyder and Wakefield. Although the Bus can only be in one place at a time, young people can stay connected with the bus through facebook to make contact with staff, find a range of information and view funny and inspiring stories.
